To assign an existing user as an additional user to a device that already has another user assigned, you can utilize the user device affinity feature in Configuration Manager. This allows you to associate multiple users with a single device. Here’s how you can do it:

    1. Open the Configuration Manager console.
    2. Navigate to the Assets and Compliance workspace and select the Devices node.
    3. Choose the device you want to modify.
    4. On the Home tab in the ribbon, click on Edit Primary Users.
    5. In the Edit Primary Users dialog, search for and select the existing user you want to add as a primary user for the selected device, then choose Add.

This will allow the additional user to be associated with the device alongside the existing user.

    Hello Kapiti Parish Admin,

You can definitely allow more than one person to use the same device in Intune, but there are a couple of things to keep in mind. Intune recognizes one primary user per device, the main owner set during enrollment. That can be changed if needed, but only one person can hold that role.

If your goal is simply to let another existing user sign in, you don’t need to change ownership. Just make sure their account is in Azure AD and that the device is Azure AD‑joined or Hybrid‑joined. From there, you can add them locally through Settings → Accounts → Other users → Add account, and they’ll be able to log in alongside the current user.

If you want Intune itself to reflect a different primary user, you can update it by going to Intune admin center → Devices → [select device] → Properties → Change primary user. Keep in mind Intune will still only show one primary user at a time.
