When setting up Bookings app I get two errors codes

I am trying to set up the Bookings app.

When trying to open Bookings app I get two errors codes.

  1. Transient Issue in Personal Bookings
  2. No Access to Shared Bookings

I haven't yet been able to use the app. This is as far as I can get. Any ideas? Microsoft has generated some random outlook email for me, though I am logged in to my usual gmail account. Does this have something to do with it?

Thanks in advance!

    Hi Amy,

You are hitting those two errors because you are signed in with a personal Microsoft account that uses your Gmail address, and Bookings only works with a Microsoft 365 work or school account that has an Exchange Online mailbox. When you open Bookings with a personal account, Microsoft may auto create a consumer Outlook address for you, but that mailbox is not the right type.

The fix is to use a Microsoft 365 work or school account that has the right license and mailbox, then open Bookings again. If you do not have one, here's how:

Sign out of all Microsoft sites in your browser.

Open a private window so nothing is cached. Start a Microsoft 365 Business Standard trial for yourself, which gives you Bookings and Exchange Online. During sign up you will create a business account like yourname[at]yourdomain.onmicrosoft.com. After the tenant finishes creating, sign in with that new business account.

Open Outlook on the web once and send yourself a test email to finish creating the Exchange mailbox. Close Outlook, then go to Bookings and open it. It should load without the two errors. If you prefer to keep using your Gmail address as your sign in, you can add that Gmail as an alternate sign in on the business account later, but make sure you are actually signed in with the business account when you launch Bookings.

If you already have a business subscription, do this instead.

Sign out in the browser, use a private window, sign in with your work or school account, open Outlook on the web once to provision the mailbox if you have never used it, then open Bookings. If it still does not open, wait a few minutes after the first Outlook open and try again, since mailbox provisioning can take a short time on a brand new account.

Let me know if this works for you!
