I recently bought a headset and when I went to fix my sound settings it says I need to activate my windows license. When I press to activate it gives me an error saying I do not have a valid digital license or product key. I know this is an error because I bought my lenovo with windows os already installed. When I trouble shoot it says unable to activate windows. It also shows a message saying to purchase a genuine copy. I know I do not have to buy windows if it came with my laptop already, there is also no option to skip product key. Not sure where to go from here...

Hello, thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.

Please use the ShowKeyPlus app to view the OEM product key installed on your device. You can use that key to activate Windows.

If you're still having trouble activating Windows,

    Open Command Prompt.

Type slmgr.vbs /dlv and click enter.

Post a screenshot of the resulting dialog box.

It sounds like you're experiencing issues with Windows activation on your Lenovo laptop. Since you mentioned that Windows was pre-installed, there are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot this issue:

    1. Check the BIOS: Sometimes, the Windows marker in the ACPI_SLIC table in your computer's BIOS may be corrupted or missing. This could prevent proper activation. You may need to contact Lenovo support to verify if your device has the correct BIOS settings for Windows activation.
    2. Use the Command Prompt: You can try running the activation command with elevated privileges. Open the Start menu, search for Command Prompt, right-click it, and select Run as administrator. Then, enter the command slmgr.vbs /ato to attempt activation again.
    3. Check for Updates: Ensure that your Windows is up to date. Sometimes, pending updates can interfere with activation processes.
    4. Contact Support: If the above steps do not resolve the issue, consider reaching out to Microsoft Support or Lenovo Support for assistance. They can help you verify your product key and provide further guidance.
    5. Reinstallation: As a last resort, if you suspect that your Windows installation is corrupted, you may need to reinstall Windows. Make sure to back up your data before doing this.

If you continue to see messages indicating that you need to purchase a genuine copy, this may suggest that the pre-installed version of Windows is not being recognized correctly.
