I have a new phone on which Microsoft Authenticator needs me to sign into two accounts. I do so with username and password and am then presented with a code to approve a sign in request…in Microsoft Authenticator. The other options are to use Outlook or a verification code, both of which require Microsoft Authenticator. How are you supposed to do this on a new phone without access to the old phone?

To set up Microsoft Authenticator on a new phone without access to your old phone, you will need to follow these steps:

    1. Use Backup Options: If you had previously set up backup options for your Microsoft account, you might be able to use those to regain access. This could include SMS or email verification.
    2. Recovery Codes: If you have recovery codes that were provided when you set up two-factor authentication, you can use those to log in.
    3. Contact IT Support: If you are part of an organization, your IT department may be able to assist you in resetting your multi-factor authentication settings or provide alternative methods to verify your identity.
    4. Reset MFA: If you cannot access your old phone and do not have recovery options, you may need to reset your multi-factor authentication settings through your organization's IT support or by following the recovery process outlined by Microsoft.

It's essential to set up your new phone with Microsoft Authenticator as soon as possible to avoid being locked out of your accounts in the future.
