Stuck in 2FA loop

Support point me here, to the phone to the wherever else. It seems that Microsoft has lost it's touch??

I do not have access to the old phone number that is associated with my account, therefore going through a reset does not work. Support said they cannot help with it (which is odd) and to post here, so here I am.

I have access to the email, enter the first code - cannot get the second.
