    Hello,

    I need more info.

During the repair, did the motherboard change?

How did you obtain your license initially?

Did it come with the device preinstalled, or did you purchase it?

If you purchased it, did you purchase from Microsoft, or from third party?

Is it originally a Win7/8 key?

To activate Windows without spending additional money, you can try the following steps:

    1. Check Activation Status: Open the System control panel to see if it indicates that Windows is activated. You can also run the command Slmgr.vbs /dli in the Command Prompt to check the activation status.
    2. Use Existing Product Key: If you had a valid product key before, try using it again to activate Windows. You can change the product key by going to Settings > Update & Security > Activation > Change product key.
    3. Contact Microsoft Support: If the above steps do not work, consider contacting Microsoft support for assistance. They may be able to help you reactivate your Windows without additional costs if you can provide proof of your previous activation.
    4. Check for OEM License: If your PC originally came with Windows pre-installed (OEM), ensure that the OEM license is still valid. Sometimes, repairs can affect the activation status, and you may need to re-enter the OEM key.
    5. Troubleshoot Activation Errors: If you encounter specific error codes during activation, you can look them up for tailored solutions. For example, if you see an error indicating that the Volume License Key is invalid, you may need to change it to a valid Multiple Activation Key (MAK) or Retail key.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the activation issue without incurring additional costs.
