If you've OEM license, you'd need to buy new license when you change motherboard.

If you've retail license, you can transfer it easily by changing product key on new motherboard.

    Hello,

If your license is OEM, then once motherboard is changed, the license is gone.

Type cmd in the search on the taskbar and hit enter to launch command prompt, then run the following command:

    slmgr /dlv

In the pop up, see if it says OEM-DM, if so, you cannot transfer it.

When you replace your motherboard, you may be able to transfer your Windows product key, but it depends on the type of license you have. If your Windows license is a retail version, you can typically transfer it to a new motherboard. However, if it is an OEM version, the license is tied to the original hardware and cannot be transferred. In either case, after replacing the motherboard, you may need to reactivate Windows using your product key. If you encounter issues, you might need to contact Microsoft support for assistance with activation.
