i already have personal microsoft 365 subscription ending at 27/04/2025.

If I buy today a new family 365 subscription what will happen with the 5 month subscription running?

Will they be merged?

Since you are planning to switch to a subscription with more features, it is possible to add the subscriptions together, assuming of course that you order the new one using the same Microsoft account. In doing so, it seems that you will lose some days from the subscription, though. See the table below (it is a screen shot of the article).

When you purchase a new Microsoft 365 Family subscription while you already have a personal Microsoft 365 subscription, the two subscriptions will not merge. Instead, your existing personal subscription will continue to run until its expiration date, which is 27/04/2025 in your case. The new Family subscription will start its own billing cycle and will be separate from your existing subscription. You will have access to both subscriptions until the personal one expires, after which you can choose to continue with the Family subscription.
