I purchased Office Home 2024 when I purchased a new iMac this month. I have begun to get messages on Microsoft Update that my programs needed an upgrade to update. So I purchased Microsoft 365 personal subscription. My programs will not update and I'm still getting the upgrade messages. And I cannot get a live person on the phone. You've ripped me off.

    Hi Barry,

This issue happens because the two licenses work differently one is fixed, and the other is designed for ongoing updates. Installing the Microsoft 365 apps will resolve the upgrade prompts and give you the latest features.

    What You Can Do is:

    Check Which Version Is Installed

Open Word or Excel on your iMac and go to About. If it says “Office Home 2024,” you’ll need to install the Microsoft 365 apps.

    Download Microsoft 365 Apps

Sign in at office.com with your Microsoft 365 account and download the latest apps. This will replace the older version.

    Uninstall Office Home 2024 (Optional)

Removing the older version avoids confusion and ensures you’re only running the subscription-based apps.

Let me know how it goes, Happy to help!

It sounds like you're experiencing issues with upgrading your Office applications after purchasing both Office Home 2024 and a Microsoft 365 Personal subscription. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the upgrade issue:

    1. Ensure Correct Installation: Make sure that you have the correct version of Office installed on your iMac. Sometimes, having multiple versions can cause conflicts.
    2. Uninstall Older Versions: If you have older versions of Office installed, it may be beneficial to uninstall them. You can use the Microsoft 365 Uninstall troubleshooter to help with this process.
    3. Sign In with the Correct Account: Ensure that you are signed in with the account associated with your Microsoft 365 subscription when trying to update or activate your Office applications.
    4. Check for License Assignment: If you are using a Work or School account, check with your administrator to ensure that your account has the necessary licenses assigned.
    5. Repair Office: If you're still encountering issues, you might want to try repairing your Office installation. This can often resolve problems with updates.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, consider reaching out to Microsoft Support through their official channels for further assistance.
