Hi,

I hope you’re doing well. We have Windows Enterprise licenses for all our machines, and when we receive laptops from Dell, the OS comes pre-installed. However, sometimes we need to reinstall the OS using a USB drive.

Recently, we downloaded the Enterprise version of Windows IOS from Microsoft’s official website, but it seems there might some mistake downloaded wrong version. Now, too many machines are showing this Screenshot 2025-11-26 130511

error message.

Could you please advise if there’s a fix for this, or do we need to re-image those machines?

Thank you.

    Hello,

It appears you have accidentally installed the Windows Enterprise Evaluation edition rather than the full production version.

The Evaluation edition is a specific build designed for testing purposes only. It is hard-coded with a timebomb that expires after 90 days. Unfortunately, you cannot convert the Evaluation edition to a full Production edition. The internal licensing structure of that specific ISO is different.

To fix this, you will need to re-image the machines.

    1. Log in to the Microsoft Volume Licensing Service Center (VLSC) or the Microsoft 365 Admin Center.
    2. Download the correct Windows Enterprise ISO. (Ensure the filename does not contain the word "Eval" or "Evaluation").
    3. Perform a clean installation on the affected machines using this new media.
    4. The machines should then pick up your organization's license automatically or via your KMS/MAK keys.

I understand re-imaging is time-consuming, but it is the only supported method to resolve the Evaluation restriction.

Please let me know if you have any trouble, and I will be happy to assist further.

The attached screenshots show clearly that you've installed Windows 11 Enterprise Evaluation instead of the full Windows 11 Enterprise edition. It comes with a 90-day evaluation period and can't be activated with volume licenses.

Unfortunately, you will likely need to re-image these machines with the correct Windows 11 Enterprise ISO. The evaluation edition has fundamental differences from the full version and cannot simply be converted after installation.

Once installed activate them with your valid Enterprise license or subscription plan (E3/E5).
