authenticator app loop, cannot login to admin due to missing authenticator

I am helping a friend and I do not know exactly what happened. But he is logged on to 2 one drive accounts. With one private mail address and one [Moderator note: personal info removed] account. I had the authenticator app installed and working but that has somehow be disabled.

I do not know what my friend did.

Any attempt to try and reset the mfa leeds me to a password reset portal (which works fine) but after that I need mea to login online and the loop starts.

Can anyone help me how to get the authenticator app working again or completely reset.

I tried finding help with Microsoft but I did not find any chat or telephone support options.

Thanks, [Moderator note: personal info removed]

Is this a business subscription (account)? In that case, your friend should be able to contact Microsoft business support and get assistance from the data protection team.
