A family of Microsoft spreadsheet software with tools for analyzing, charting, and communicating data.
Hi Frederik,
Thanks for reaching out. I understand how inconvenient it is when the Stocks data type doesn’t appear. I'm here to help!
First, make sure you’re using Microsoft 365 or a supported version of Excel, as the Stocks data type isn’t available in older perpetual versions like Office 2016 or 2021. If you’re on the right version, check that you’re signed in with an active Microsoft 365 account and that your subscription is valid.
Second, update Office by going to File > Account > Update Options > Update Now, since missing updates often hide features.
Third, check your ribbon settings under File > Options > Customize Ribbon and ensure Data Types is enabled. A stable internet connection is also required for Stocks to work.
Last, if everything looks correct and the feature still isn’t showing, try signing out and back in, or perform an Online Repair through Control Panel. As a workaround, you can use Excel Online, which usually supports Stocks
