All Microsoft Authenticator on my Samsung phone does for me now is:

  1. Give me, "Your screen lock has changed"
  2. I am given 2 options (a) Cancel, (b) Set up
  3. I select Set up
  4. I'm presented with a window that saysm "Your screen lock has changed", with a button that says, "Re-enable Phone Sign-in"
  5. I select that button.
  6. It takes me to another window that says,, "Welcome to phone signin" and it tells me that the next time I sign in I'll get a notification in this app to approve it to sign it. Then there's a button that says, "Got it".
  7. Since that Got It button is the only action I can take on that window, I tap it.
  8. Then it takes me back to step #1

And that is it. I am now in a infinite loop going from steps #1 to step #7 over and over

THIS IS INSANE!!!!

What in hell is wrong with Microsoft Authenticator????

This app, which I NEED to use at my job, is 100% useless to me!!!!!!

It sounds like you're experiencing a frustrating issue with the Microsoft Authenticator app on your Samsung phone. The loop you're encountering, where you're repeatedly prompted to set up phone sign-in, can sometimes occur due to a few reasons. Here are some potential solutions you can try:

    1. Check for App Updates: Ensure that your Microsoft Authenticator app is updated to the latest version. Sometimes, bugs are fixed in newer releases.
    2. Clear App Cache: Go to your phone's settings, find the Authenticator app, and clear its cache. This can help resolve issues caused by corrupted data.
    3. Reinstall the App: If clearing the cache doesn't work, try uninstalling and then reinstalling the Microsoft Authenticator app. Make sure to back up your accounts if necessary.
    4. Device Settings: Check your device's security settings to ensure that there are no restrictions preventing the Authenticator app from functioning properly. This includes checking screen lock settings and any device management policies that might be in place.
    5. Contact Support: If the problem persists, consider reaching out to Microsoft support for further assistance, as they may have more specific troubleshooting steps for your situation.

These steps should help you resolve the infinite loop issue with the Microsoft Authenticator app.
