Hi Elias Cosio, I want to ask that when the number keys of the pad don't work, do the arrow keys? (e.g. when pressing 4, instead of the number, the typing pointer going left). If they still function, then some settings might be incorrect, we just need to figure out which one.

    • Open Settings > Accessibility > Mouse > Mouse keys
    • Turn off Only use mouse keys when Num lock is on option
    • Toggle on/off the Num Lock key on your keyboard a few times
    • You can also try with Mouse keys off if it's already on
    • Open a quick typing page (e.g. Notepad) and test with each change you make

    User's image

If that still doesn't work, still in Accessibility, open Keyboard and turn ON On-screen keyboard to test. On that keyboard, click Options: User's image

    • In the opened window, check Turn on numeric keyboard User's image
    • Click the NumLock key and test the numpad keys on-screen
    • If it works, test with your built-in keyboard to see if the keys registered.

    User's image

    Let me know the result!

It sounds like you're experiencing an issue with your numeric keypad on the OmniBook 7. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

    1. Check Num Lock: Ensure that the Num Lock key is activated. If it's off, the numeric keypad may not function as expected.
    2. Keyboard Settings: Go to your keyboard settings and ensure that the keyboard layout is set correctly for your region.
    3. Driver Update: Check if there are any updates available for your keyboard drivers. You can do this through the Device Manager in Windows.
    4. External Keyboard: If possible, try connecting an external USB keyboard to see if the numeric keypad works there. This can help determine if the issue is with the built-in keyboard.
    5. Restart the Device: Sometimes, simply restarting your device can resolve temporary issues.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, it may be a hardware problem, and you might need to contact support for further assistance.

    Hi Elias Cosio,

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A!

I understand how inconvenient it can be when the numeric keypad works during login but stops functioning afterward. To better help with the issue, I want to reconfirm with you that this is a built-in num pad and not an external one, correct? If yes, here's what you should check:

1 - The Num Lock key on your keyboard:

    • Some laptops disable Num Lock automatically after boot.
    • Look for any special key on your Fn key row or near the Num Pad, e.g. User's image
    • After logging in, press the Num Lock key once and test the Num Pad.

    2 - Verify keyboard settings:

    • Open Settings > Time & Language > Typing > Advanced keyboard settings
    • Ensure your input language is correct (e.g., English US).
    • Still in Settings, open Accessibility > Keyboard
    • Check if there's the Mouse Keys feature and make sure it's turned off.

    3 - BIOS/UEFI Num Lock setting:

    • Some HP OmniBook models have a BIOS setting for Num Lock at startup
    • Restart your PC, press F10 at HP logo (or the key shown for Setup)
    • In the menu appeared, navigate through these sections:
      • Open Advanced > Built-in Device Options
      • Check System Configuration > Device Configuration
    • Look for Num Lock or Embedded Keypad or similar > Enabled > Save!

If none of these steps resolve the issue, it could be a software conflict (e.g., third-party keyboard utilities) or a hardware issue with the keypad. Let me know if that's the case and we will try some more advanced fixes!
