If your touchpad is not working on your HP laptop, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

    1. Check Touchpad Settings: Ensure that the touchpad is enabled in the settings. You can do this by going to Settings > Devices > Touchpad and checking if it is turned on.
    2. Update Drivers: Make sure that your touchpad drivers are up to date. You can do this by going to Device Manager, finding the touchpad under Mice and other pointing devices, right-clicking on it, and selecting Update driver.
    3. Check for Windows Updates: Sometimes, Windows updates can resolve hardware issues. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates.
    4. Restart Your Laptop: A simple restart can sometimes resolve temporary glitches that may be affecting the touchpad.
    5. External Mouse: If you have an external mouse connected, try disconnecting it to see if that resolves the issue with the touchpad.
    6. Hardware Issues: If none of the above steps work, there may be a hardware issue with the touchpad itself. In this case, contacting HP support or taking the laptop to a technician may be necessary.

If you continue to experience issues, consider checking the HP support website for specific troubleshooting steps related to your laptop model.

Look at the function keys (F1 - F12) on your keyboard, if one of those keys has a touchpad symbol on the key, try pressing that key or Fn + that key to check if that gets the touchpad working.

If that was not the problem, then the best option is to go to the support page for your laptop on the HP website to download and re-install the version of chipset drivers and touchpad drivers they provide for your laptop model.

If you have any difficulty locating that support page, click your Start Button, then just type msinfo and press Enter, please provide a screenshot of the resulting System Information window.
