Hi Om,

Thank you for sharing your question. I understand about your issue with the 2025-11 Security Update (KB5068861) and not seeing any fresh stuff. I get why that's puzzling, mainly if you're looking for visual changes, like a different Start menu or battery icon. Security updates and feature updates aren't the same thing. Security updates just fix problems and make things more reliable, but they don't add new stuff. Feature updates, like version upgrades (say, 25H2), come out bit by bit and can take weeks or months to hit everyone to make sure things are stable and avoid big problems.

To sort this out, type winver in the Run box to check the Windows version you're on now. If you're already running the latest feature version (like 25H2), then the update you put in was just about security. If not, go to Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates to see if a feature update is waiting for you. Sometimes, devices get held back because of compatibility problems, which slows down feature updates until things are fixed.

Can you check if your device says Windows 11, version 25H2 in winver?

I hope this answer is helpful, if you have any questions, feel free to reply.

Best Regards,

Noel

It seems you are experiencing issues with Windows Update on your new laptop, specifically with the Realtek Driver Update showing an installation error (0x80070103). This error typically indicates that the update is not applicable to your system or that there are conflicts with existing drivers.

Here are some steps you can take to resolve the issue:

    1. Check for Updates Again: Go to Settings > Windows Update and select Check for updates to see if there are any new updates available that might resolve the issue.
    2. Manually Install the Driver: You can visit the Realtek website or your laptop manufacturer's website to download the latest driver manually and install it.
    3. Run Windows Update Troubleshooter: Although you mentioned that the diagnostic fails to run, if you can, try running the Windows Update troubleshooter again by going to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters > Windows Update.
    4. Clear the Update Cache: Sometimes, clearing the Windows Update cache can help. You can do this by stopping the Windows Update service, deleting the contents of the C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download folder, and then restarting the service.
    5. Check Device Manager: Open Device Manager and check if there are any issues with the Realtek device. You can try to uninstall the device and then restart your computer to let Windows reinstall the driver automatically.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, consider reaching out to Microsoft Support for further assistance.
