I am using a Samsung laptop - it is only 3 months old. The split screen / snap screen function has never worked - for years I used windows key + arrow on my last computer, with no problem. Now, I see the emoji pop up. The emoji pop up is supposed to appear with command Windows key + ; or Windows Key + . and it does on both. But it also appears when windows key + arrow is used - either arrow. Very frustrTING. I can use the work around dragging the window to the edge of the screen but the original method is cleaner and faster. Is anyone else having this experieince ? Ideas on how to fix it?

It seems that you are experiencing an issue where the split screen function (using Windows key + arrow keys) is not working as expected on your Samsung laptop, and instead, the emoji panel is popping up. This behavior can sometimes occur due to a misconfiguration or a software issue.

Here are a few steps you can try to resolve the issue:

    1. Check Keyboard Settings: Ensure that your keyboard settings are configured correctly. Sometimes, keyboard shortcuts can be overridden by other applications or settings.
    2. Update Windows: Make sure your Windows operating system is up to date. Updates can fix bugs and improve functionality. You can check for updates by going to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
    3. Keyboard Driver: Check if your keyboard drivers are up to date. You can do this through Device Manager. Look for your keyboard under "Keyboards," right-click it, and select "Update driver."
    4. Check for Third-party Software: Sometimes, third-party software can interfere with keyboard shortcuts. If you have any keyboard management software installed, try disabling it to see if that resolves the issue.
    5. Reset Keyboard Settings: If you have customized your keyboard settings, consider resetting them to default.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, you may want to consider reaching out to Samsung support or checking online forums for similar experiences from other users.

Hi there Anne, I get how confusing that can be when a shortcut you’ve used for years suddenly behaves differently. What’s happening is that something on your laptop is overriding the normal Windows snap shortcut and triggering the emoji panel instead. This usually happens if Snap Assist is turned off or if a keyboard utility from Samsung or another app is intercepting the keys. Let’s start simple: check if Snap windows is enabled under Settings > System > Multitasking. If it’s on, try updating Windows and your keyboard driver, then restart.

Do you have any Samsung keyboard or customization software installed? Those can sometimes remap shortcuts. Also, what language and region settings are you using? Incorrect input settings can cause odd shortcut behavior.

Let me know what you find.'

    Best,

    Rez
