Hello, I’m setting up my new business laptop. After I sign in with my email and password, it takes me to a second screen asking me to generate a code with Microsoft Authenticator or enter a verification code. When I go to my Microsoft account to set up the Authenticator app, it asks me for the same thing—a generated code or a verification code—so I’m stuck in a loop. I’ve tried calling support, but I haven’t been able to reach anyone. I’m hoping someone can help because I’ve been trying to fix this for six hours and I’m extremely frustrated.

This especially happens when MFA was previously set up, partially set up, or enforced by your organization. You’re not doing anything wrong , your account is stuck in a state where it requires MFA to sign in, but you don’t have any valid MFA method registered, so it keeps asking for a code you cannot generate.

Please try connecting with the administrator for resetting your MFA
