When you encounter the OneDrive sync error stating, "OneDrive can't add your folder right now," it may be due to several reasons. Here are some possible causes and resolutions:

    1. Require Check Out: If this option is enabled on the library, it can prevent syncing. To resolve this, go to the library settings and change Require Check Out from Yes to No.
    2. Required Columns: If there are required columns in the library, you need to either remove the requirement or fill in the necessary information. Check each column in the library settings and change the Require this column to contain information value to No for any required columns.
    3. Draft Item Security: If this is set to Only users who can edit items, it can block syncing. Change it to Any user who can read items in the versioning settings of the library.
    4. Account Type: Ensure you are using an internal account to sync content. Syncing with a guest or external account is not supported.

By addressing these potential issues, you should be able to resolve the sync error and successfully add your folder.

    Dear @Jess Graham

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

The following are some possible causes for this error:

    • The Require Check Out option is enabled on the library.
    • There are Required columns entries for the library.
    • The Draft Item Security option is set to Only users who can edit items.
    • You're syncing by using an external or guest account for OneDrive.

If the below steps require administrative rights, please reach out to your Global Admin or SharePoint Admin for assistance.

Help me navigate to your OneDrive URL > click settings icon > OneDrive Settings > More Settings > scroll down and click Return to old Site settings page. (Or you can go to your SharePoint site > Library tab > Library Settings > More Library settings)

Navigate to Site libraries and lists > go to customize documents > Versioning settings.

(Or you can go to your SharePoint site > Library tab > Library Settings > More Library settings > Versioning settings.)

    Change Content Approval to No.

Draft Item Security to Any user who can read items.

Change Require Check Out from Yes to No.

    Then save.

Apart from these three options, there is one more option. In customize documents page (or in Library settings) > check each column for a check mark under Required. For any columns that have the check mark, change the Require this column to contain information value to No.

Note: Syncing content by using a guest or external account is not supported. Instead, use an account that's internal to your organization.

    Looking forward to your reply!
