Hello, I updated my computer to windows 11 a few days ago and encountered quite a few error with my system. After 3 days of struggling to sort things out and having files fail, I decided to revert back to windows 10. After my computer reverted I have lost all my desktop files from my computer. They aren't in a windows old folder or hidden anywhere, they were also not in my recycling bin. I have some personal business item as well as personal photos from those folders that I need back.

Hi, I'm Rodrigo and I will help you.
Depending on how your Windows 11 was set up, it can be the case of your Desktop files were moved to the OneDrive folder. Please check the OneDrive\Desktop folder on C:\Users(YourUserName).

It is good to check on OneDrive too, access https://onedrive.live.com/ and enter your Microsoft account

It sounds like you've encountered a frustrating situation with your files after reverting to Windows 10. Unfortunately, when you downgrade from Windows 11 to Windows 10, the process can sometimes lead to data loss, especially if the files were not backed up or stored in a location that is preserved during the downgrade process.

Here are a few steps you can take to try to recover your lost files:

    1. Check for Backups: If you have been using File History or any other backup solution, check those backups for your lost files.
    2. Search for Temporary Files: Sometimes, files can be saved in temporary locations. You can search your system for any temporary files that might have been created.
    3. Data Recovery Software: If the files are not found in any backups or temporary locations, you might consider using data recovery software to scan your hard drive for deleted files.
    4. Professional Recovery Services: If the data is critical and you cannot recover it yourself, you may want to consult a professional data recovery service.

Unfortunately, if the files were not preserved during the downgrade and are not recoverable through these methods, it may be challenging to retrieve them. Always ensure to back up important files before making significant system changes in the future.
