using Office 21 with microsoft 10

Excel selects a different cell than where the mouse is when I open another worksheet in the same workbook..

to fix it, I have to constantly change the zoom level, when I do this, I have control for a brief time.

If I save, close and then reopen the workbook. the problem is still there

It seems like you are experiencing an issue with Excel where the selected cell does not match the mouse position when opening another worksheet in the same workbook. This could be related to several factors such as display settings, Excel settings, or even potential bugs in the software.

Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

    1. Check for Updates: Ensure that you have the latest updates for Office installed. Sometimes, bugs are fixed in newer updates.
    2. Test in Safe Mode: Open Excel in Safe Mode to see if the issue persists. You can do this by holding down the Ctrl key while starting Excel. If the problem does not occur in Safe Mode, it may be related to add-ins or custom settings.
    3. Adjust Display Settings: Sometimes, display settings can cause issues with how Excel renders cells. Check your display settings in Windows and ensure they are set to recommended values.
    4. Change Zoom Level: As you've mentioned, changing the zoom level temporarily resolves the issue. This could indicate a rendering issue that might be addressed in future updates.
    5. Repair Office: You can try repairing your Office installation. Go to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features, select Microsoft Office, and then click on Change. Choose the Repair option.
    6. Contact Support: If none of the above solutions work, consider reaching out to Microsoft Support for further assistance.

If the issue persists after trying these methods, it may be a bug that needs to be reported to Microsoft.

Hi there Greg, I hear you and I want to get this fixed quickly. Based on what I’m seeing, the issue is likely caused by a recent settings change or a permission conflict that’s blocking the app from running as expected. Let’s start simple: please restart the device, then sign out and back in to your account. Check your internet connection, and if you’re on Wi‑Fi, try toggling airplane mode off and on. Update the app to the latest version and clear its cache. If this is on Windows, run the app as administrator and install any pending system updates. If this is in a browser, try an incognito window or a different browser. If it still acts up, please tell me what device and OS you’re using, the exact steps you take before the error, the time it started, any error messages you see, and whether this happens on other networks or accounts.

using Office 21 with microsoft 10.
    mesh wi-fi.

    desktop wired to router.

    worked seamlessly for 3 yrs.

    no error messages.

In an open workbook, if I copy and paste cells from another worksheet, I can't always paste to the desired destination cell. Sometimes above or below or to the right or left of the desired cell. This happens when I copy/paste, cut/paste values, formats, formulas, etc. Also, makes no difference if the cells are formatted the same or not or the source zoom value is the same as destination zoom value.

Trial & error workaround (most time) is to adjust the worksheet View/Zoom value up or down. I can work OK until I have to change worksheets or workbooks. Plays hell with linked ranges, relative formulas and even printing.

I've tried repairing the app, running in safe mode, swearing and rebooting...... almost kicked the dog (LOL).

I look forward to any/all ideas.

    Thanks in advance

    Greg
