My new computer doesn't show on my Microsoft account but shows under linked devices

My new computer doesn't appear if I go into Microsoft.com and look for the devices in my account. I had to link it by going to a different account and then coming back to the Microsoft account. I was able to link it so I can now use Remote Desktop with it.
After this, it shows as a linked device under Settings - Linked Devices but NOT under my account. However to use Remote Desktop, I have to use the "other account" I had to create so that the device could be linked. It doesn't work with my regular Microsoft account and password.

How can I fix this so it appears properly under my devices in the Microsoft account and I don't have to have it show only under settings?

To resolve the issue of your new computer not appearing under your Microsoft account, you can try the following steps:

    1. Ensure Proper Sign-In: Make sure you are signed in to your new computer with the same Microsoft account that you want it to appear under. If you initially set it up with a different account, you may need to switch to your primary Microsoft account.
    2. Linking the Device: If the device is showing as linked under Settings but not under your Microsoft account, you might need to unlink it from the other account and then link it again using your primary Microsoft account.
      • Go to Settings > Accounts > Your Info and ensure that you are signed in with the correct Microsoft account.
    3. Check Device Management: Visit the Microsoft Entra admin center to manage device identities. Ensure that your device is registered correctly under your account.
    4. Device Sync: Sometimes, it may take a while for devices to sync across Microsoft services. Ensure that your device is connected to the internet and check again after some time.
    5. Contact Support: If the issue persists, consider reaching out to Microsoft Support for further assistance in resolving account and device linking issues.

By following these steps, you should be able to get your new computer to appear properly under your Microsoft account.

I understand how confusing that can be when your new computer doesn’t show under your Microsoft account.

The root cause is that the device was likely set up or signed in with a different Microsoft account than the one you normally use, so it only appears as a linked device locally and not under your main account online.

To fix this, check which account is currently signed in by going to Settings > Accounts > Your info.

If it’s the other account, you’ll need to switch to your main Microsoft account by adding it under email & accounts and then choosing Sign in with a Microsoft account instead.

After that, give it a few minutes and confirm at account.microsoft.com/devices if the device appears.

Once it’s registered, update your Remote Desktop credentials to use your main account.

Quick question, do you want to keep both accounts active on the PC or completely move everything to your main account?

    Regards,
    Aron
