I'm updating data on a weekly basis and I want lock the data from each previous week. Does anyone know how to do this. I've included a screenshot to further explain. Screenshot 2025-12-12 at 12.57.39 PM.png

It also should be noted that Worksheet Protection is an all-or-nothing proposition. Unlike Excel for Windows individual ranges of cells cannot be restricted. IOW, when Protection is turned off all cells become editable even if their Locked property is intact.

Thanks for sharing the details, Michael! Try to lock Previous-Week Cells Using Sheet Protection (Most Common)

This lets you lock Week 1, Week 2, Week 3, etc., while still allowing Week 4 (or the current week) to be editable.

    Step-by-Step

    1. Select the cells you want to remain editable Example: If you’re entering Week 4 data now, select only the Week 4 column.
    2. Unlock them:
      • Right-click → Format Cells
      • Go to Protection
      • Uncheck Locked
      • Click OK
    3. Protect the sheet:
      • Go to Review (top ribbon)
      • Click Protect Sheet
      • Optionally enter a password
      • Make sure Select unlocked cells is enabled
      • Click OK
      Now:
      • Locked cells (previous weeks) cannot be changed
      • Unlocked cells (current week) remain editable

See if this helps. If you need further assistance just let me know.

    Best regards,

    Kimberly
