If Minecraft for Windows is crashing when you try to join a game, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can take:

    1. Check for Updates: Ensure that both your Windows operating system and Minecraft are up to date. Sometimes, updates can fix bugs that cause crashes.
    2. Enable Debugging: Since you mentioned that the game crashes, you might want to enable debugging features in your system to get more information about the crashes. This can help identify the root cause.
    3. Check for Corrupted Files: Sometimes, game files can become corrupted. You can try repairing the game through the Microsoft Store or reinstalling it again.
    4. Verify System Requirements: Ensure that your PC meets the minimum system requirements for running Minecraft.
    5. Check for Conflicting Software: Antivirus or other background applications might interfere with Minecraft. Make sure to check if any software is blocking the game.
    6. Review Event Viewer: You can check the Windows Event Viewer for any error logs related to the crashes. This might provide insights into what is causing the issue.

If the problem persists after trying these steps, you may want to reach out to Microsoft support for further assistance.

Based on what you described, it sounds like something in the local game data or the Xbox/Microsoft Store services might not be working correctly. Here are a few steps that usually help in situations like this:

    1. Reset Minecraft’s local data. Go to Settings > Apps > Installed apps > Minecraft for Windows > Advanced options Select Terminate, then Repair, and if that doesn’t help, try Reset.
    2. Refresh the Microsoft Store & Xbox services Press Windows + R, type WSReset.exe, and run it. After that, sign out and back into both the Microsoft Store and the Xbox app.
    3. Reinstall or repair Gaming Services Sometimes this component breaks and causes crashes: https://aka.ms/gamingsetup.
    4. Make sure the Xbox Identity Provider is installed This helps Minecraft connect properly to multiplayer: https://www.microsoft.com/store/productId/9WZDNCRD1HKW.
    5. Try starting the game without custom resource packs or worlds A corrupted pack or world can crash the game before it finishes loading.

Does Minecraft crash only when joining someone else’s world, or does it also crash when you try to open your own worlds?
