I am trying to use a word template for 2026 monthly calendar. The template says I can change the year. I do not see the calendar tab. Anyone know how to enable this macro?

Microsoft used to have macro-enabled templates that let you set the year or month and have the dates adjust. They have stopped offering those, perhaps because people were afraid of the macros.

If you have used a macro-enabled template from Microsoft in the past for this, it should still be on your computer in the folder you have designated for saving custom office templates. Such a template would have the Calendar tab.

When you use one of the templates from Microsoft, it is stored there.

I expect that sometime in January Microsoft will come out with 2026 calendars. This is based on experience since they discontinued the macro-enabled calendar templates.

You can use the free calendar add-in from former Word MVP Greg Maxey that you can download from here: https://gregmaxey.com/word_tip_pages/calendar_maker_addin.html

You can also find free 2026 calendars on MVP Jay Freedman's download site. (https://jay-freedman.info/)

You can find a free perpetuaal calendar maker add-in on MVP Graham Mayor's site.

Exactly which calendar template are you using? Each has a specific name. However, The one supplied with the program simply is called Calendar. I never have seen a Calendar tab though.

For those which contain a macro for specifying Month & Year you are prompted to Enable Macros when you first create the Calendar:User's image

You then are prompted for that info if you select Enable Macros:

To change the Month/Year at a later time use the Shift_Option+return keyboard shortcut to launch that dialog again.

To display a calendar template in Word and change the year, you need to enable the Developer tab if it's not visible. Here’s how you can do that:

    1. Open your Word template file.
    2. Go to File > Options > Customize Ribbon.
    3. In the right pane, check the box for Developer.
    4. Click OK.

Once the Developer tab is enabled, you should be able to access the calendar controls and change the year as needed. If the template has macros that allow for year changes, you can run those macros from the Developer tab.

If you are still having trouble, ensure that any macros required for the calendar functionality are enabled in your macro settings.
