To delete a security key, you need to access the settings where the passkeys are managed. If you are using Windows 11, version 22H2 or later, you can follow these steps:

    1. Open the Settings app.
    2. Navigate to Accounts > Passkeys.
    3. You will see a list of saved passkeys. Find the one you want to delete.
    4. Select ... > Delete passkey next to the passkey name.

Please note that some passkeys associated with login.microsoft.com cannot be deleted, as they are used with Microsoft Entra ID or Microsoft Account for signing in to the device and Microsoft services.

If you are using an Authenticator app on Android or iOS, you can delete the passkey by tapping the account name, going to Settings, and then selecting Delete passkey. Make sure to also check your Security info to ensure it is removed from there as well.

Hi tammy marie asapace_pmcain, I completely understand how stressful this feels having a security key you didn’t set up and worrying about doing changes on a public computer can be frustrating.

Use a trusted device to sign in to your Microsoft Security Info page remove the security key under sign in methods and if you can’t access your account fill out the recovery form. Never make these changes on a public computer.

Do you currently have access to any trusted device or backup sign in method like an authenticator app or alternate email that could help remove the security key without waiting?

    Best regards

    Lucky
