My computer failed to update 25H2 and now my printer states offline on my computer but I can print from other devices in the home to include cell phones. When attempting to update we get as far as 28% then it registers as failed.

Hi, I'm Bernard, a fellow Windows user. I'm happy to help!

This issue occurs when there is a compatibility issue with the driver. In this case, I recommend removing the printer from the PC and adding it back. Kindly follow the steps below:

Go to Settings > Printers & scanners > Select the printer, then click remove

Once you have removed the printer, try to add it back:

Go to Settings > Printers & scanners >click Add device

Note: If the issue persists, please let me know the make and model of the printer so I can provide you with the installation of the printer driver.

It seems that you are experiencing two issues: a failed update to Windows 11 version 25H2 and your printer showing as offline on your computer.

For the update issue, if your update fails at 28%, you might want to try the following steps:

    1. Run the Windows Update Troubleshooter: Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters > Windows Update and run the troubleshooter.
    2. Check your internet connection: Ensure that your internet connection is stable during the update process.
    3. Free up disk space: Make sure you have enough disk space available for the update.
    4. Try updating manually: You can download the update manually from the Microsoft website if the automatic update continues to fail.

Regarding the printer showing as offline, this can happen if the printer was set to offline status before the update. To resolve this, you can:

    1. Right-click the new print queue in the Printers and Faxes tool and clear the Use Printer Offline setting.
    2. Alternatively, you can delete the registry key associated with the printer's offline status after deleting the old print queue but before adding a new one with the same name.

If these steps do not resolve your issues, consider reaching out to Microsoft support for further assistance.
