Why won't Microsoft recognise my licence?

I have two Macs which were running MS Office for Mac version 16. One still works fine but my MacBook Air was reformatted and I now want to reinstall Office. To complicate matters, my email address at the time ended with .eu and is now defunct post Brexit. However, I have logged in successfully using my mobile phone number. The previous version of Office - for which I paid a significant amount in 2016 - works perfectly well for my needs.
