When I try and open Outlook, a text box appears requiring me to log into Yahoo. If you cannot do this, you can not open Outlook. Since Outlook is closed, and since almost all help resources ask you to sign in or verify yourself via Outlook, you can not proceed.

    Hi Walter,

Thanks for reaching out about Outlook forcing you into a Yahoo sign‑in loop and I understand how frustrating it is when you cannot even open the app to get the help you need. This kind of issue often happens when Outlook is trying to authenticate an account in the background even if that account is no longer active or properly synced. Another solution you can try is starting Outlook in Safe Mode so it opens without loading connected accounts or add‑ins.

Safe Mode lets Outlook launch with only the essentials which can bypass the Yahoo login prompt long enough for you to adjust your settings. You can do this by holding the Ctrl key while selecting the Outlook icon and choosing to open it in Safe Mode, then removing the Yahoo profile or creating a new one from the Mail control panel outside of Outlook. Once Outlook opens normally again it should stop asking for Yahoo credentials.

Before we go further do you recall whether this started after a password change, an app update or adding a new email profile?

I hope this answer is helpful if you have further questions feel free to reply back

    Regards,

    Marcelo

To open Outlook without being prompted to log in to Yahoo, you may need to check your account settings within Outlook. Here are some steps you can take:

    1. Remove Yahoo Account: If Yahoo is set as your primary account, you can remove it from Outlook. Go to File > Account Settings > Account Settings, select your Yahoo account, and click Remove.
    2. Change Default Account: If you have multiple accounts configured in Outlook, set a different account as the default. This can be done in the same Account Settings menu.
    3. Repair Outlook: If you're still facing issues, consider repairing your Outlook installation. Go to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features, select Microsoft Office, and choose Change > Repair.
    4. Check Compatibility Mode: Ensure that Outlook is not running in compatibility mode for an older version of Windows. Right-click on the Outlook shortcut, select Properties, go to the Compatibility tab, and uncheck any compatibility options.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, you may need to consult additional support resources specific to your Outlook version.
