Can not get code from Authenticator

Hello,
I have register today as a system administrator of the company and I cannot log in to my Microsoft account (cannot get the authentication code) because it keeps asking for type in the code displayed on my authenticator app from my device but my authenticator doesn't show code for my account.

I have tried the option "Approve a request on my Microsoft Authenticator app" but nothing happens. What should I do?

    I did not have backup turned on. When I turned on backup to cloud it let me sign in and then gave me the option to send me a text to my mobile to verify my log in to Authenticator. Now Authenticator works as it should.
