Sharepoint 2016 and .net version deprecation

Running SP 2016 onprem, which installs .net 3.5 and 4.6 as prerequisites.

4.6.x and below will be EOL by MSFT as of 4/2022, and we're preparing to deprecate versions < 4.8.

AFAIK, 4.8 should support earlier versions, but wanted to get first hand knowledge of experiences and pitfalls of doing this.

What's the MS best practice recommendation?

Thanks!

According to this article written by senior escalation engineer Stefan for SharePoint products and technologies, SharePoint 2013, 2016, and 2019 are supported with .NET Framework 4.8, you should upgrade .NET 4 to the most recent version.
