When I open an Excel file, it show "We're sorry, but Excel has run into an error that is preventing it from working correctly. Excel will need to be closed as a result. Would you like us to repair now?"

After I choose repair Now, nothing has been done, can anyone let me know what is going on?

If that 'Repair Now' button is not resolving the problem, then the best option is to perform a full repair of your Office installation.

Open the Settings App (gear icon on your Start Menu)

Go to Apps - Installed Apps, then scroll down to find Microsoft Office or Microsoft 365.

Select that and choose Modify - Online Repair

That should fix any issues with your Office Installation.

The error message you are encountering in Excel indicates that there is a problem preventing the application from functioning correctly. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this issue:

    1. Repair Office: Since the repair option did not seem to work, you can try to manually repair your Office installation. Here’s how:
      • For Windows 10:
        1. Open the Control Panel.
        2. Click on Uninstall a program under Programs.
        3. Select Microsoft 365 and click Change.
        4. Choose Online Repair and follow the prompts.
      • For Windows 8 and 7, the steps are similar but may vary slightly in navigation.
    2. Check for Conflicting Programs: Sometimes, other applications running in the background can interfere with Excel. Try closing any unnecessary applications before starting Excel.
    3. Start Excel in Safe Mode: This can help determine if add-ins are causing the issue. You can start Excel in Safe Mode by pressing Windows + R, typing excel /s, and pressing Enter.
    4. Delete Excel Preferences: If the preferences are corrupted, deleting them can sometimes resolve issues. This would typically involve navigating to the preferences folder and removing or renaming it.
    5. Check for Updates: Ensure that your version of Excel is up to date, as updates can fix bugs and improve performance.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, you may need to consider reinstalling Microsoft Office completely.
