My HP All-in-One keeps randomly restarting. Below is a warning message found in Event Viewer:

The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID

{2593F8B9-4EAF-457C-B68A-50F6B8EA6B54}

and APPID

{15C20B67-12E7-4BB6-92BB-7AFF07997402}

to the user DESKTOP-J5A7VEM\happy SID (S-1-5-21-164625962-918468965-330067537-1005) from address LocalHost (Using LRPC) running in the application container Unavailable SID (Unavailable). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool.

Additional information from Event Viewer:

The start type of the Background Intelligent Transfer Service service was changed from demand start to auto start.

Is any of this causing it to reboot?

    Hi,

    When restarting, does it show the Windows reboot screen or a BSOD (Blue Screen of Death)?

    Thanks

    The warning message you found in Event Viewer indicates a permission issue related to a COM Server application, which may not directly cause the constant rebooting of your HP All-in-One. However, issues with permissions can lead to application failures that might contribute to system instability.

    The additional information regarding the Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) changing its start type from demand start to auto start could indicate that the system is trying to manage updates or transfers automatically, which might also lead to unexpected behavior if there are underlying issues with the system.

    To troubleshoot the constant rebooting:

    1. Check Event IDs: Look for Event IDs 41 (Kernel-Power), 1001 (WER-SystemErrorReporting), and 6008 (EventLog) in the Event Viewer, as these can indicate unexpected shutdowns or crashes that may help identify the cause of the reboots.
    2. Review Updates: Ensure that your system is up to date with the latest Windows updates and drivers, as outdated software can lead to instability.
    3. Check Hardware: Inspect hardware components for issues, such as overheating or failing power supplies, which can also cause random reboots.
    4. Modify Permissions: If you suspect the COM Server permission issue is related, you can modify the permissions using the Component Services administrative tool to grant the necessary Local Activation permission.

    If the problem persists after these checks, further investigation into hardware or software conflicts may be necessary.
