I have an HP OmniBook 5 laptop running Windows 11 Home, connected through an HP USB-C G5 dock to 2 monitors. The laptop is always shut and I just use the monitors. I have a sporadic schedule, so the laptop is always on.

2-3 times per week, the USB-C port seems to malfunction and all docking station functions (monitor output, power, sound, ethernet) stop working. I have to do a CMOS reset (shut down, and then hold the power button for 30 seconds) to get everything back to normal.

The failures seem to coincide with Security Intelligence Updates for Microsoft Defender Antivirus.

Is there any way to fix this or a workaround, so I don't have to do a hard reset every couple days?
