cannot logon to my azure tenant because i have a new phone and lost the previous phone on which i had configured my MFA in authenticator.

I was the last person with acccess to the tenant, so there is nobody i can ask to reset my MFA. I actually need to access it to remove resources, so we can get rid of the whole tenant. I cannot remove it because of resources in it.

This sounds like a tenant lockout scenario and cannot be fixed self‑service. If you are the only Global Administrator and lost the MFA device with no backup methods, Microsoft must manually intervene via their Data Protection / Tenant Recovery process to reset MFA or restore admin access after verifying tenant ownership.
You will need to Contact Microsoft Support by phone or via a support ticket created from another account, and be prepared to prove ownership (tenant ID, domain/DNS control, billing details). After recovery, immediately create emergency “break‑glass” admin accounts to prevent future lockout.
