Limit certain emails within a certain distribution list from receiving emails

I have a distribution list that is convenient for information to be sent through to. However, the distribution list is also used for certain emails some members do not require access to.

How do I ensure certain emails are not sent to those within the distribution list? Is there a way for emails with certain keywords to not be delivered to specific members within the distribution list?

There is no such functionality for DLs, all the current members will receive copies of any message addressed to the group. You might be able to configure some sort of restrictions via a Mail flow rules, but a better solution IMO would be to "split" the set of users/recipients across multiple DGs, then use their individual addresses to distribute messages as needed, and nest them all together to have a quick way to send a message to all the users.

To limit certain emails from being sent to specific members within a distribution list, you can use the moderation feature in Exchange. This allows you to set up message approval, where incoming messages sent to the group are reviewed by moderators before delivery. Here’s how you can manage this:

    1. Set Up Moderation: You can configure the distribution group to require that messages sent to it be approved by a moderator. This way, you can control which messages are delivered to the group members.
    2. Add Moderators: Assign specific users as moderators who can approve or reject messages based on their content. This allows you to filter out unwanted emails before they reach the distribution list members.
    3. Bypass Moderation: If there are certain members who should not receive specific emails, you can create a list of senders who do not require message approval. This way, only approved messages will be sent to the group, and you can manage which messages are allowed through moderation.

However, there is no direct feature to filter emails based on specific keywords for individual members within the distribution list. The moderation process would be the best approach to manage this situation effectively.
