    Hi Mahmoud Elnady,

Here is the direct method to check your installed edition and test if your key matches the system:

Step 1: Verify the Installed Edition

    1. Press Windows Key + R, type winver, and press Enter.
    2. Check the dialogue box.
      • If you purchased a Retail key, it is likely for Windows 11 Pro or Home.
      • If your system says Windows 11 Enterprise, a Retail Pro key will not activate it. You would need to reinstall Windows 11 Pro.

Step 2: Force Install the Key via Command Prompt

    1. Open Command Prompt (Admin).
    2. Enter the following command (replace with your actual key): slmgr /ipk XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX

    Result Analysis:

    • If you get "Installed product key successfully," proceed to type slmgr /ato to activate.
    • If you get 0xc004c003 again, the key is definitely blocked by Microsoft and cannot be used. You will need to contact the seller.
    • If you get an error stating "The product key usually works with a different edition," you have an Edition mismatch.

I am available to assist further if you can share the result.

    Hello Mahmoud,

Error code 0xc004c003 indicates that the activation server has determined the product key is blocked or invalid. This typically happens when the key has already been used on another device, is not genuine, or does not match the edition of Windows installed. Troubleshooter cannot resolve this because the licensing validation fails at the server level.

The first thing to confirm is whether the machine was upgraded from a licensed Windows 10/11 installation or if you are attempting a clean install with a retail or OEM key. If it was an upgrade, the digital license should automatically carry over, provided the hardware has not changed significantly. You can check the activation channel by running slmgr /dlv from an elevated Command Prompt; this will show whether the key is OEM, Retail, or Volume. If the key type does not match the edition installed (for example, using a Home key on a Pro build), activation will fail with this error.

If you have a valid retail key, you can re‑enter it under Settings > System > Activation > Change product key. If the key is OEM, it should be embedded in the BIOS and Windows should pick it up automatically, but mismatched installation media can prevent that. In such cases, reinstalling with the correct edition ISO is the only supported fix. If the key is volume‑licensed, activation requires connection to your organization’s KMS or Active Directory activation service, and it will not work outside that environment.

If none of these apply and you are certain the license is valid, the only recourse is to contact Microsoft Support directly with proof of purchase. They can check the activation status of the key and reissue if necessary. There is no supported registry or bypass method for this error, as it is enforced by Microsoft’s activation servers.

I hope you've found something useful here. If it helps you get more insight into the issue, it's appreciated to accept the answer. Should you have more questions, feel free to leave a message. Have a nice day!

    Harry.
