Microsoft Learn exam AI-102: Course is outdated and includes to be retired Azure Custom Vision service – is it still in scope?

I am preparing for Exam AI-102. The official course material includes questions about Azure Custom Vision service, which Microsoft has announced will retire in 2028 and that if you want to make custom models for classification & detection, they refer to Azure Machine Learning AutoML. Roughly 10-15% of the course seems to depend on this tool. Can you confirm whether the current “skills measured” page for this exam is up to date, and whether knowledge of Azure Custom Vision service is still in scope for the exam? And will it be replaced with Azure Machine Learning AutoML skills instead?

Preparing for this exam has been almost impossible for me, even though i have an MSc in AI. I know foundry and most of their AI tools in and out, but I fail too many of the questions in the test exams again and again, due to them referencing outdated tools, or the answers being straight up wrong. The test-exam does not seem to test if you can use the tools properly or followed the course material. Instead it tests whether you can remember, or in reality, find random useless facts correctly in MsLearn within the given timeframe. Like: "Which color is not included in the color sheme when using this API". I would like to know if the exam questions are as silly as those, because then i will just practice my MsLearn search skills instead.

I am preparing for Exam AI‑102 (Azure AI Engineer Associate) and I have already purchased the exam.

I understand that Exam AI‑102 is planned to be retired and replaced by Exam AI‑103 (Azure AI App and Agent Developer Associate).

Could you please clarify the following:

    1. If I do not schedule or take Exam AI‑102 before its retirement date, will my purchased exam attempt automatically transition to Exam AI‑103?
    2. Until which date can I still schedule and take Exam AI‑102 using my existing exam purchase?
    3. Is it still valuable to take Exam AI‑102, considering that it will be retired within approximately one year, or would taking this exam be unnecessary at this point?

    Thank you for your support.

    Regards,

The exam is based on the published study guide which was last updated only two weeks ago.

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/credentials/certifications/resources/study-guides/ai-102

Custom Vision will be retired in 2 year's time but is only a single objective, not 10-15%. The Vision service is not indicated for retirement. Currently available services which are used are still in scope of the exam.

I do advise my students that the Microsoft provided practice assessment provided does not align with the exam; the exam is much harder. It is really important to go through all the hands-on labs to prepare for the exam.
