Sending, receiving, and organizing email in Outlook.com
Hello rudu, thanks for posting this in the community.
Based on the details you provided, Outlook.com is working normally. The issue comes from a misunderstanding of what a proxy email or alias is, and from trying to use an address that does not actually exist as a mailbox. The email string you saw on a website is not a real Outlook address. It is not registered, it has no inbox, and it cannot be used to sign in. Because of that, it cannot receive messages, Gmail cannot deliver to it, Outlook will not allow sending from it, and the social media platform cannot send a verification code to it.
To resolve this, start by checking which email addresses are truly associated with your Microsoft account. Sign in at https://account.microsoft.com, go to Your Info, then Manage how you sign in to Microsoft. This page will show your actual Outlook address, any aliases you created, and any secondary emails. If the “proxy” address is not listed here, then it does not exist in your account.
If you want an additional Outlook alias that works like a real mailbox, you can create one on that same page. Once created, it becomes a legitimate address that is linked to your account, can receive mail, and can be used as a From address.
For sending issues in Outlook, make sure that the From field is set to your actual Outlook address or a real alias. If the From field contains the non‑existent proxy address, Outlook will block the message because the account has no permission to send from an address it does not own.
Regarding the social media platform, the verification email will never arrive because it was sent to an address that does not exist. You will need to contact their support and request that they update the email on the account to your working Outlook address.
Kind regards,
John Oli
