Quick short summarize of this Q&A Help Ticket, trying to compose and send an email, no matter what i do i keep getting "You don't have permission to send messages from this mailbox." & "Proxy" email receive/login issues.

And my biggest issue is that when i try to receive an email from a social media platform provider for account creation, i signed up using my proxy outlook email thing, the thing that was displayed on my website which is this ******@outlook.com

I basically created an account using that outlook proxy email yet no matter what i cannot receive anything, i even tried to sign in on outlook.com using this proxy and its not found, i tried using Gmail to send a test email to the "proxy" @outlook.com email yet i got a Gmail response saying it cannot send an email, now me trying to contact the social platform via email since their on-site ticket support is broken, i compose an email, i click send and boom i get "You don't have permission to send messages from this mailbox."

Basically i cannot send email, or receive email, now without the "proxy" email i was able to send myself an email (Gmail to outlook) without the weird string, but me being unable to send an email to the social media platform support email i am stuck in a limbo.
the issue on the social media platform is that its waiting for account creation code yet i never got any, even trying to login using the proxy email on the social media platform i cannot login on their site, this is beyond broken in both parties (social media platform & outlook.com)
i am stuck in the biggest limbo of problems ever.
Summary is basically:

  1. Cannot send to support email using @outlook.com email
  2. Cannot receive or see any email via the proxy email (most definitely receive since i cannot even email myself via a separate Gmail to the proxy @outlook email)
  3. Cannot create a on-site ticket so resorted to manual email composition
  4. Cannot log-in using the proxy @outlook.com email to get to the page to enter account creation code yet the create account page shows the email is taken so it definitely did sign up using the proxy email)

I know half of those reasons are not related to the social media platform but its just a great list of all my combined issues from both parties to show how big of a limbo i am, the best you guys can do is fix that i can receive email using that proxy email, and yes trying to add the Proxy email as Communication Preference it just does not let me.

If its not a proxy email then what the hell kind of email is it? I still need it as a secondary to be able to receive any emails such as the account creation code so i can at least finalize the account created on the social media platform and then change the proxy outlook email to my actual normal outlook email.

Also, my outlook account was originally link-created using a Gmail but since then i have disconnected my Gmail and attached phone number, Microsoft authenticator and so on, so its practically a standalone Microsoft @Outlook email account now.

So please if you guys can fix that proxy email to actually proxy or link to my actual outlook email. Here is a reminder & double check that this is the "proxy" email of my @outlook.com email account. ******@outlook.com Please help ASAP and Thank you.

Hello rudu, thanks for posting this in the community.

Based on the details you provided, Outlook.com is working normally. The issue comes from a misunderstanding of what a proxy email or alias is, and from trying to use an address that does not actually exist as a mailbox. The email string you saw on a website is not a real Outlook address. It is not registered, it has no inbox, and it cannot be used to sign in. Because of that, it cannot receive messages, Gmail cannot deliver to it, Outlook will not allow sending from it, and the social media platform cannot send a verification code to it.

To resolve this, start by checking which email addresses are truly associated with your Microsoft account. Sign in at https://account.microsoft.com, go to Your Info, then Manage how you sign in to Microsoft. This page will show your actual Outlook address, any aliases you created, and any secondary emails. If the “proxy” address is not listed here, then it does not exist in your account.

If you want an additional Outlook alias that works like a real mailbox, you can create one on that same page. Once created, it becomes a legitimate address that is linked to your account, can receive mail, and can be used as a From address.

For sending issues in Outlook, make sure that the From field is set to your actual Outlook address or a real alias. If the From field contains the non‑existent proxy address, Outlook will block the message because the account has no permission to send from an address it does not own.

Regarding the social media platform, the verification email will never arrive because it was sent to an address that does not exist. You will need to contact their support and request that they update the email on the account to your working Outlook address.

    Kind regards,

    John Oli

It sounds like you're experiencing multiple issues with your Outlook email account, particularly with sending and receiving emails. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot these problems:

    1. Check Permissions: The error message "You don't have permission to send messages from this mailbox" suggests that there might be a permissions issue with your Outlook account. Make sure that your account is properly set up and that you have the necessary permissions to send emails. You can check your account settings in Outlook to ensure everything is configured correctly.
    2. Verify Email Address: Ensure that the proxy email address you are using is correctly set up and that it exists. If you cannot log in to the proxy email, it may not be a valid account or it may have been deleted.
    3. Check Spam/Junk Folder: Sometimes emails from social media platforms can end up in the spam or junk folder. Make sure to check those folders for any missing emails.
    4. Repair Outlook: If you are using the Outlook application, consider repairing it. You can follow the steps in the Microsoft support article on repairing an Office application.
    5. Contact Microsoft Support: If the issues persist, it might be best to contact Microsoft support directly for assistance with your Outlook account. They can help you resolve any account-specific issues that may be causing these problems.
    6. Use the Support and Recovery Assistant: Microsoft offers a tool called the Support and Recovery Assistant for Microsoft 365, which can help diagnose and fix common Outlook connectivity issues. You can download and run this tool to see if it can resolve your problems.

If these steps do not resolve your issues, it may be necessary to further investigate the status of your proxy email and whether it is functioning correctly.
