How to cancel Azure Backup job stuck in "In Progress" status

I have a backup running using MARS agent but it has been stuck for more than 10 days and there's no way I can cancel it because the button is disabled. Do you have any workaround for this?

Hi @Faye Entienza - Thank you for reaching out to us!

Regarding the issue, if a backup is triggered while the other backup was in progress, then the backup job is going to fail. But if the previous backup operation is completed, then the new backup job completes with success.

To resolve your issue, follow the steps from the troubleshooting guide - https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/backup/backup-azure-mars-troubleshoot#job-could-not-be-started-as-another-job-was-in-progress

Wait for sometime and If issue persist, try to stop the backup job by running the cmdlets documented here - https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/powershell/module/az.recoveryservices/stop-azrecoveryservicesbackupjob?view=azps-6.4.0

hi @SadiqhAhmed-MSFT , thank you so much for your reply. I have done the first one that you mentioned which is to change the job through the task scheduler but I am not sure if it has taken effect already.

I am still seeing the In Progress status from the backup jobs that I sent you last time but I can't be able to do the workaround that you provided because I am unable to use powershell from the portal.

Can you share other workaround to cancel those jobs?

@Faye Entienza - Would it be possible to download and install the Az module - https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/powershell/azure/install-az-ps?view=azps-6.4.0 and try the suggestions?

Yes, Anti-Virus software block files that Azure backup tries to backup. You need to put them in exclusion list to avoid backup failures.
