My computer randomly turned off and when I am not charging it it won’t turn on . When I plug it in it stays at 46%. After turning on it turns off by itself. I tried turning it on multiple times and it keeps turning off. How to solve this issue. Computer is barely 4 years old.

Hi,

When did the problem begin? Based on your explanation, this seems to be a problem with the physical battery. Try shutting down your computer and then disconnect the power adapter from your laptop. If your laptop has a removable battery and you are comfortable doing so, remove it. Hold down the power button for 20 seconds to drain any residual power. After that, reinsert the battery, reconnect the power adapter, and turn on your laptop as usual. If the issue persists, try a different battery if available, or contact your PC manufacturer's support for possible replacement.

Computer now shuts off immediate after being unplugged even though it says it’s on 46% and battery isn’t increasing.

It sounds like your Asus Zenbook is experiencing issues related to power management or battery health. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem:

    1. Check the Power Supply: Ensure that the charger is functioning properly and providing adequate power. If possible, try using a different charger that is compatible with your device.
    2. Battery Health: Since your device is not turning on without being plugged in and shows a charge level of 46%, the battery may be failing. A battery that cannot hold a charge properly can cause the device to shut down unexpectedly. Consider running a battery diagnostic tool if available.
    3. Overheating: Check if the device is overheating. If it is, it may shut down to prevent damage. Ensure that the vents are not blocked and that the cooling system is working correctly.
    4. Memory and Hardware Check: If you are comfortable, check the RAM and other hardware components to ensure they are seated properly. Faulty hardware can also cause random shutdowns.
    5. Event ID 41: If your computer shuts down unexpectedly, Windows logs Event ID 41 the next time it starts. This event can provide insights into what caused the shutdown. If you can access the system logs, check for this event to gather more information.

If the issue persists after these checks, it may be necessary to consult with a professional technician or consider replacing the battery if it is indeed failing.
