How can I link to planner instead of project in my PowerBI dashboard?

I am wondering how to easily connect MS Planner and PowerBI. I am currently using a PowerBI template that links MS Project Online and PowerBI. Since Project Online went away, the links to the plans/projects no longer work. How can I automate linking to the planner page instead of the broken Project Online site.

Hello,

It sounds like you are hitting a wall because the Premium plans (formerly Project for the Web) live in a completely different database than the Basic plans. The standard Power BI Planner connector typically only sees the Basic ones, which is why your Premium data is missing.

Premium plans are stored in Dataverse. To report on them and generate the correct links to the new Planner interface, you need to use the Dataverse connector in Power BI, not the Planner one.

Do you have access to your Power Platform Environment URL (usually found in the Power Platform Admin Center)? If you can grab that URL, I can walk you through exactly which tables to pull and the formula to build the new links.

    hello Jessica Cella,

yeah, I know this switch can feel a bit shaky… a lot of folks hit the same thing when Project Online disappeared. in my experience, Planner just doesn’t give u the clean OData feed the old template relied on, so the connection kinda falls apart. most teams end up pulling Planner through Graph API or dropping it into Dataverse with a small flow. once that’s in place, PowerBI behaves pretty steady again.

I did find an article online for connecting, but was unable to connect more than one plan and it was only showing basic plans, not premium. Please help! We are using Planner for our whole team and need a dashboard with the data, and the ability to connect back to the plan for more detail.
