In Windows 2008 R2 SP1 (datacenter ed.) I downloaded latest administrative templates (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/101445) may 2020 and I extracted and replaced the only inetres.admx/adml to my centrale store.
Nevertheless in Group Policy Preferences, User configuration, Preferences, Control Panel Settings, Internet Settings If I click new, I can see only IE 5,6,7,8.
It's missing Internet Explorer 9,10, 11

    Hi,
Based on my experience, the inetres.admx/adml file will not impact the settings under Group Policy Preferences, User configuration, Preferences, Control Panel Settings, Internet Setting.
It will only impact the settings under Computer configuration\Policies\ Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Internet Explorer
For example, with and without the inetres.admx/adml file ,you will see differences as following :
    15304-8042.jpg
    15326-8043.jpg

SoI would recommend you update whole Administrative Templates under ,and replace the PolicyDefinitions in your central store
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3087759/how-to-create-and-manage-the-central-store-for-group-policy-administra
Then ,you will see the settings as following:
    15393-8044.jpg
Note: You need to select the option of Internet Explorer 10 in Group Policy Preference (GPP) to apply the settings for Internet Explorer 11 as the same settings apply to Internet Explorer 11.

    Best Regards,

    Hi,
    Thanks for your reply.
I did a test in my lab.
i build a domain with a 2008R2 DC, the same as yours.
Then when i tried to configure the GPP, it only showed the internet 5,6,7,8.

It is not related to the administrative templates(sorry for the mistake in the last post) , it is related to the DC version.
With windows server 2012 and 2016 you can see internet 5,6,7,8,9,10.

Since the Windows 2008 server was out of MS support , I i would recommend you upgrade the DC with a higher lever.

    Best Regards,

So I would recommend you update whole Administrative Templates under ,and replace the PolicyDefinitions in your central store

Some weeks ago I just downloaded Administrative Templates (.admx) for Windows 10 May 2020 Update (2004) and I extracted the files admx/adml, but I had no courage to copy all content (of course only about my language) to central store.
I have to copy all files admx/adml ? I thought It was necessary only one file.... What could happen to my policies ?!

you'll need to use a modern OS eg Windows 8.1 or Windows 10, or the Server equivalent OS, with the RSAT tools installed, to have the new GPP admin features
