I cannot sign in to my university microsoft account, since it requires a code from the microsoft authenticator app, and I have been signed out of that as well, when trying to sign in, it requires a code from the microsoft authenticator app as well which I can’t access because I am not signed in! It does not give me alternative options of SMS or email or anything else.

i am currently in Iran and due to the situations of my country I am unable to call or contact my university in any way.

i would be very thankful if you could help me!

You're banging on the wrong door, your problem is with a university or education account, so the support for these is always done by either the university itself or whatever IT Support they've contracted with to perform this.

You should be looking on your university's website relating to the IT Support Help Desk for the apps they provide, specifically anything that mentions the use of MFA or similar authentication options which explains how to contact them for aid in resetting your authentication options in order to allow you to set them up again.

No one here is able to make changes to accounts or provide other direct support within the Microsoft account systems anyway, so only those truly inside the Microsoft Support structure could possibly do this, but not for a work or school account in any case.

Unfortunately, since you're currently located not only out of the country, but also in a country that's on the list of countries Microsoft doesn't do business with, even if this type of support were possible, which it isn't for reasons already mentioned, they couldn't provide support to someone located in such a country. The following is an example listing these countries specifically for a Microsoft 365 license, but they're all really unsupported by Microsoft for any product including account support.

"Customers that purchase Microsoft 365 may assign a Microsoft 365 license, respectively, to a user that resides anywhere in the world, except for Cuba, Iran, Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Sudan, and Syria."

It sounds like you're experiencing a common issue with the Microsoft Authenticator app, especially when switching devices or being signed out. Unfortunately, without access to the Authenticator app, you may find it challenging to log in, especially if alternative verification methods (like SMS or email) are not available.

Here are a couple of options you might consider:

    1. Contact Microsoft Data Protection Support: If you are the sole administrator for your university account, try reaching out to Microsoft support. You can explain your situation and request assistance in resetting your authentication method. Since you are unable to call, you might try to find any online support options available through Microsoft’s website.
    2. Create a Temporary Account: If contacting support is not an option, consider creating a new Microsoft account temporarily. This can allow you to access support channels and possibly submit a request to reset your MFA settings for your original account.

Unfortunately, given the restrictions in your country, these options may be limited. If you can find a way to connect with your university's IT department through email or another method, they might also be able to assist you directly.

I hope this helps you regain access to your account soon!
