I lost the access to an important account thinking an email was linked to it since I had gotten personal codes for said account, now that I've lost the account I tried to recover with a code to said email.... Which wasn't connected to my account as I thought. Now i'm currently locked out of my account and devestated..... I have proof that I own the account with a previous (expired) code that was sent to me before. Screenshot 2026-01-30 205006

Hello, thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.

Do you have any other Security contact methods, such as a phone number, to Verify Your Identity?

Since the verification code is sent to that email address, it would normally indicate that the email is connected to the account. Could you please help us understand how you concluded that it is not linked?

Have you tried the account recovery form to unlock your account?

Account Recovery Form: https://account.live.com/acsr

Remember to use a familiar device from which you've frequently accessed your Microsoft account, as well as a familiar location. Microsoft will review your responses and respond within 24 hours. If you are verified, instructions on how to log back into your account will be sent to you, and if you are not verified, you will need to submit the Account Recovery form again. You can do this up to 2 times every 24 hours.

Important: The account recovery form can only be used if two-step verification isn't turned on.
