Could you please confirm where you purchased your Microsoft 365 subscription?
For example, did you buy it through the Microsoft Store using your Microsoft account (ending in @hotmail.com or @outlook.com), or through the Apple App Store using your @icloud.com Apple ID?
If you purchased it through the Apple Store, you should have used your @icloud.com account for the purchase, and the subscription might have been tied to that account.
You can open App Store, then go to Settings > Click on Subscriptions.
You should see 'Microsoft Office 365 Personal' in the lists.

After the purchase, you should receive a receipt showing which Apple account the product is linked to. You can sign in with that account to download and install the Office applications.
