    Hi, Ashleigh Bazzell

To better assist you, could you please provide the following information?

    • What is the exact error message that appears when Word cannot open the file? (If possible, please include a screenshot.)
    • Which version of Word are you currently using?

I am looking forward to hearing from you

    Best regards

If Microsoft Word is not opening and you are encountering persistent errors, here are some steps you can take to try to resolve the issue:

    1. Run an Online Repair: Since you mentioned that reinstalling did not help, try running an Online Repair. This option is more thorough and often includes reinstallation of Office. Make sure you can access your Microsoft account associated with your Office product before proceeding.
    2. Open and Repair: If you can access Word, try to open the document directly using the Open and Repair feature:
      • Start Word.
      • Go to the File tab, select Open > Browse to locate the document.
      • Select the file, then choose Open from the menu at the bottom and select Open and Repair.
    3. Check for File Corruption: If the issue is with a specific document, it may be corrupted. Try renaming the file or moving it to a different folder with a shorter path name. You can also try saving it in a different format (like Rich Text Format) and then back to Word format.
    4. Clear Disk Space: Ensure that your hard disk has enough space. Use the Disk Cleanup tool to remove unnecessary files that might be taking up space.
    5. Check for Updates: Make sure that your Office applications are up to date. Sometimes, updates can fix bugs that cause applications to crash or not open.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, you may want to consider reaching out to Microsoft Support for further assistance.
