I am trying to purchase microsoft basic email plan. The process followed smoothly untill i get asked ti set up my email account. The minute i try to set up my already created account, it shows me time-out error. I'm not sure why is it happening and how to resolve this out.Screenshot 2026-02-04 210900.png

Hi Muahmmad. The issue is most likely due to an account conflict, cached Microsoft login tokens, or a temporary backend provisioning timeout. Start by using incognito mode, clearing cookies, or using a different browser these resolve 70% of such cases.

    1. Try the purchase in a private/incognito window

This removes bad cookies or auth tokens.

    • Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
    • Edge: Ctrl + Shift + N

    2. Clear Microsoft authentication cookies

    In Edge/Chrome:

Settings → Privacy → Cookies → See all cookies → Search “login.microsoft” → Remove all

    3. Use a different browser

Microsoft recommends Edge for commerce, but Chrome or Firefox may bypass cookie issues.

    4. Confirm whether you have a Personal vs Work/School Account conflict

Go to: https://login.microsoft.com Sign out → Sign in again.

    If you see:

“Which account do you want to use?” (Work/School vs Personal) then you have a conflicting identity → likely the cause.

    5. Try completing the purchase without signing in first

Use the purchase flow until it asks for an email, then select:  "Create a new business account" Not “use existing account.”

You can add the existing account later inside the tenant.

    6. Remove stale Azure AD entries (if any)

If this address was used before:

(If you don’t see this, your account is a personal Microsoft account and not an Azure AD account.)

    7. Try a clean network

    Disable:

    • VPN
    • Ad blocker
    • Firewall/IPS filtering

Try a mobile hotspot to rule out network issues.

    8. If all else fails → Use Microsoft support

Microsoft 365 purchase support is free.

    Go to: https://support.microsoft.com/contactus

    Hi Muahmmad,

Do you have a School account or a Work account on the computer? It appears to be an admin issue.

I’m eager to hear back and work together to find a solution.
