why won't my camera show me on a Zoom call? Please do not tell me steps to check the camera. I have tried to follow your suggestions, and I will not pay someone to fix the problem on a new laptop.

Open the Camera app in Windows, is the webcam working correctly in that app?

    If not:

    1

Look at the function keys (F1 - F12) on your keyboard, if one of them has a camera icon, press that key or Fn + that key to unlock the webcam.

    2

If that was not the problem, look at the camera lens above your screen, is there a small privacy slider that needs to be opened to access the webcam?

    3

If the webcam is still not working, go to the support page for your laptop on the manufacturers website, then from there, download and re-install the version of webcam drivers they provide.

If you have any difficulty locating that support page, click your Start Button, then just type msinfo and press Enter, please provide a screenshot of the resulting System Information window.

If your camera is not showing you on a Zoom call, there could be several reasons for this issue. Here are some possibilities:

    1. Camera Access Settings: Ensure that your camera access is enabled in Windows settings. You can check this under Privacy & Security -> Camera in Windows Settings. If camera access is denied for Zoom, it won't be able to use the camera.
    2. Camera Not Detected: If your camera is not listed in the Device Manager or under imaging devices, it may not be recognized by your system. This could be due to driver issues or hardware problems.
    3. Camera Settings in Zoom: Make sure that Zoom is set to use the correct camera. In Zoom, go to Settings -> Video and check if the correct camera is selected.
    4. Driver Issues: If the camera drivers are outdated or not installed correctly, it could prevent the camera from functioning properly. You may need to reinstall the camera drivers from your laptop manufacturer's website.
    5. Hardware Issues: If none of the above solutions work, there might be a hardware issue with the camera itself, especially if it's a new laptop.

If you have already tried troubleshooting steps and the issue persists, it may be worth reaching out to the manufacturer's support for further assistance without incurring additional costs.
