Hi Hugo Avila Jr.,
Good day. I'm Jhun an independent advisor. I assume you want to setup your Google mail on Outlook app. To setup this:
A. Enable IMAP in Gmail (new Google layout).
- Open Gmail in a web browser (Chrome, Edge, etc.).
- Click the gear icon in the top-right.
- Click See all settings.
- Click the “Forwarding and POP/IMAP” tab.
- Look for IMAP access. You should see one of these: “IMAP is enabled” > good, move to Part 2 “Enable IMAP” > select it, then scroll down and click Save Changes
- If you don’t see IMAP at all: Make sure you are using full Gmail, not “Basic HTML” Make sure this is a regular Gmail account, not a work/school account (those are controlled by an admin).
B. Allow Outlook to sign in to Google. Google no longer allows simple username/password sign-ins for email apps. Outlook must use a secure sign-in.
Use an App Password. This is REQUIRED if:
- You have 2-Step Verification turned on (most people do).
- Google says you “denied Office access”.
Steps:
- Go to Google Account > Security.
- Turn 2-Step Verification ON (if not already).
- Once it’s on, you’ll see App passwords.
- Create a new app password: App: Mail Device: Windows Computer
- Google gives you a 16-character password. Important: Use this password in Outlook, not your normal Gmail password. Don’t add spaces.
C. Add the account again in Outlook. Outlook often won’t recover unless you re-add the account.
- Open Outlook.
- Go to File > Account Settings > Account Settings.
- Remove the Gmail account.
- Add it again: Email address: your Gmail. When asked for password > paste the App Password.
- Let Outlook finish syncing.
I hope this helps.
Regards,
Jhun
